Most job boards treat space like it's just another industry. Post a role. Filter resumes. Schedule interviews.
Apogee disagrees with that premise at a fundamental level.
The space industry is not like other industries.
This is not a jobs board.
Apogee is a declaration that the space industry needs good people, and that the people who belong in it deserve a better way to be found.

The people working in space organizations have re-landed rockets, returned astronauts from the Moon, put rovers on Mars, and deployed satellite constellations with the bandwidth of nations. They are not looking for the most decorated resume.
They are looking for the person who had to be there. The ones who cannot explain their drive in polite, professional terms. People who yearn for the vast expanse of space.
Explorers.

And those people are everywhere.
In universities that don't have aerospace programs. In garages, building things nobody asked them to build. In industries that have nothing to do with space.
But most recruiting infrastructure isn't built to look for them. It filters on keywords. It ranks on credentials. It misses the signal entirely.

Apogee is making a bet
That the best candidates for the space economy aren't the ones who look best on paper. They're the ones who couldn't not build.

I built this because I had to.
I'm Dr. Leon Vanstone. Apogee is the thing I built that nobody asked me to build.
I know what it feels like to want to reach for the stars and have no obvious next step. To be certain this is the work you were put here to do, and to have no idea how to get in. So I started building. First I founded Texas Rocket Engineering Lab at UT Austin, where we helped place more than 1,000 people into space companies. Then SWIFT, the national non-profit. Now Apogee.
Built by interviewing the people who do the hiring, so the profile you fill out gives them exactly what they're looking for. No guessing. No noise.
If you're reading this and you know the feeling I'm talking about, this is my answer to it.
Fill it out. It's the best way we can launch your space career.
— Leon
The space industry is heavily biased toward action.
About
Say why.
Conviction is the most hireable quality in the space economy. Everything else rests on it. If you really care, you'll learn whatever you need to learn. You'll do whatever the work demands. You'll run through walls. Recruiters know this. They ask about it first.
Portfolio
Show the work.
This is the evidence. If you're motivated, you've already been doing things nobody asked you to do. The garage project. The side repo. The thing you built because you couldn't stand that it didn't exist yet. Your portfolio is proof you execute, and proof the motivation was real.
The only way to start is to do something. The first thing is to build out your profile.
